Educations News and Resources in Canada
The education system in Canada is a public state run education system that is supervised by the countries three branches of government, which is federal, territorial provincial division, and the local national branch. Education in Canada runs for one hundred and ninety days throughout the year, with only a few months time off in between, not including Holidays. Students will graduate at the age of sixteen in most cases, but in some cities the age will be eighteen, such as Ontario, Canada, and the city of New Brunswick.
Depending on the Province, the education system is divided into three categories, such as primary, secondary, and then post junior-grade, however in some districts, it is only primary and secondary, which consists of kindergarten through twelfth grade. The school administration part of the educational system is run by school boards in the district, and the curriculum for each school is supervised by the territorial provincial division. School will start in September and run into June, and the only place that offers preschool is Ontario. The rest of the cities start at kindergarten level.
The Canadian education system is much stricter on its students when it comes to dropping out of school at an early age. Most higher paying job requirements demand that a person has a post secondary diploma, and even a degree from college. The focus on education in Canada is equally on both languages of French and English due to the Constitution law that was passed in 1982. The main focus of education is centered on subjects, such as language, math, and science, more so than subjects in art, music, and Physical Education. The educational system is prepared to help students more individually than it is to help all of the students at once. This way all of the students are having their educational needs met.
Ontario, Canada was the only education system that had a grade thirteen, which was called an “Ontario Academic Credit,” but it was abolished after 2003 due to budget costs. Foreign students who go to school and then start a job can apply for citizenship in Canada.
